Your City Government


The City of Belle Isle recently adopted a Charter Change creating a City Council/City Manager form of government which created the position of City Manager.  The City Manager is under the supervision and direction of the City Council and serves as the administrative officer of the City and shall be responsible for personnel management and the day to day operation of the City.

The City has an Administrative Division, a Maintenance Division and a Police Department. The Administrative Division consists of the City Clerk, Finance, Planning & Zoning and Code Enforcement Departments. The Maintenance Division is a single department with a Maintenance Foreman and four full time maintenance employees; and the Police Department consists of a Chief, Lieutenant and six Police Officers.  Employees of the City work under the direction of the City Manager.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES:

The administrative offices of the city are located at 1600 Nela Avenue, Belle Isle, Fl.  32809.  The administrative staff includes the Administrative Assistant, Finance Directions & Accounts Payable, General Services Director, City Clerk and City Manager. 

The following services are provided through the Administrative Services of the city:  Occupational license zoning review, building permit zoning approvals, accounts payable and receivables, garage sale permits, public records access, and work order requests.

The administrative staff under the direction of the City Manager also provides administrative support to the City Council, advisory committees, Planning and Zoning Board, Code Enforcement Board, City Manager's office and Office of the Mayor.

 


PUBLIC SAFETY:
The City provides Fire, Rescue and Emergency services through a contractual agreement with Orange County.


POLICE DEPARTMENT:

The City of Belle Isle's Police Department, newly formed on April 17, 2009, will provide a safe living and working environment through community service and effective crime prevention.  Law Enforcement will be based on respect for individual rights as well as commitment to protect the safety of all persons within our community.

MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT:

The Maintenance department consists of a working foreman and one full time maintenance employee. This department maintains public right-of-ways and park areas within the city, is responsible for replacing street and traffic signs on city streets and roads, maintains the drainage system, operates the street sweeping program and handles work order requests from residents as directed by the City Manager.
